VICTORIA, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s golf team completed play at the Royal Match hosted by Bethel on Saturday with a fourth place finish. The Gusties finished with a score of 652 while the winners, St. Catherine and Bethel, both finished with a score of 632.
“It was a bit of a struggle for the team score today,” said Head Coach Scott Moe. “We had a little different wind than yesterday and had a difficult time adjusting to the quicker pace of the greens. The team is going to enjoy a nice weekend with family for Easter, then we will get back to work on Tuesday and get ready for the Carleton Invite.”
Ellie Brandt (Sr., Wayzata, Minn.) led the Gusties on day two with a score of 78 while Kennedy Sommerfeld (Sr., Litchfield, Minn.) was next in line with an 81. Sydney Regalado (Fy., Rosemount, Minn.) finished with an 83 to give her a two day score of 161 which led all Gustavus golfers and put her in a tie for seventh overall. Erin Ericson (Fy., Onalaska, Wis.) and Emily Kratz (Fy., Edina, Minn.) finished off the five Gustavus golfers each posting a score of 88. Morgan Bleyhl (Jr., Elk River, Minn.) and Lanie Altmann golfed as individuals for the Black and Gold with Bleyhl shooting 83 and Altmann shooting 89.
