SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s basketball team is back to the friendly confines of Gus Young Court on Saturday afternoon for a 1 p.m. conference matchup against Carleton. The Gusties enter the contest 11-9 overall and 8-5 in the MIAC, while the Knights are 3-16 overall and 0-12 in the league.

THE SERIES
Saturday’s game marks the 78th meeting between Gustavus and Carleton with the Gusties leading the all-time series 55-22. Gustavus has won the past 18 matchups, most recently winning 73-43 on Jan. 5 in Northfield.
SCOUTING THE GUSTIES
Gustavus is 4-1 in its last five games, most recently defeating Hamline 56-38 on Thursday night in Saint Paul. Through 20 games the Gusties average 66.5 points and allow 57.8 per game while shooting 40.1 percent from the field – all marks that rank fourth in the MIAC. An area of growth is rebounding as the Gusties average a league-worst 32.9 boards per game, but they distributed the ball well with 14.7 assists per game. The Black and Gold turns the ball over the least in the league with 14.8 per game. Kendall Thompson is a team leader with 14.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, along with 59 steals and 67 assists. Justine Lee averages 13.2 points and leads the squad with 24 three-pointers made. Paige Richert averages double figures as well with 10.2 points along with 5.6 rebounds.
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
Carleton is suffering through a 15-game losing streak, most recently losing 76-39 against St. Thomas last Saturday. The Knights average 56.6 points and allow 72.9 per game, both ranking last in the MIAC. They shoot 34.6 percent from the field and 30.3 percent from beyond the arc. Carleton is strong on the boards, averaging a MIAC-leading 29.2 defensive rebounds and is second with 41.0 total rebounds per game. Cece Leone leads the team with 12.3 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Samantha Cooke and Annabella Jensen are next on the stat sheet with 9.4 and 8.9 points per game, respectively.
