SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s basketball team will play host to Carleton College on Saturday for a 3 p.m. contest. The Gusties come into the contest 9-11 overall and 6-9 in the MIAC while the Knights enter 6-14 overall and 4-11 in the league.

Gustavus Game Notes

The Series

Saturday’s contest marks the 95th all-time contest between the two teams with the Gusties leading 56-38. The two teams met last on Jan. 5 with Gustavus taking a 69-61 victory.

Scouting the Gusties

The Gusties come into the contest most recently defeating Hamline 80-72 on Thursday. Nolan Malo, who averages 10.3 points per game for the Black and Gold, led all scorers in the contest with 21 points to go along with five rebounds. Riley Sharbono leads the Gusties averaging 12.7 points per game and shooting 45.1 percent from the field. Gustavus, who boasts a 6-4 home record on the season, has rattled off four straight wins on Gus Young Court and has scored at least 76 points while holding its opponent under 75 during the streak.

Scouting the Knights

Carleton comes into the contest most recently coming off a 76-69 loss to Augsburg on Thursday. The Knights have been strong defensively on the season with top five marks in the MIAC in both points per game against and opponent field goal percentage. Kent Hanson and Matthew Stritzel lead the offensive attack averaging 19.1 and 14.0 points per game respectively. Hanson averages a team-leading 8.3 rebounds per contest while Stritzel is tied for the MIAC lead with 59 made three-pointers this season.
