SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s hockey team lost 4-2 to Aurora on Saturday afternoon at Don Roberts Ice Rink. The Gusties drop to 5-7-1 overall with the series split.

Aurora took an early 1-0 lead 3:29 into the game after a turnover at the Gustie blue line resulted in a breakaway goal. The Spartans then took a two-goal lead one minute into the second period.

Gustavus ended the shutout 7:24 into the second frame as Tyler Ebner (Fy., La Crosse, Wis.) scored his second goal of the series, assisted by George Hansen (Fy., Patchogue, N.Y.) and Van Sullivan (Sr., Brentwood, Tenn.). The Spartans regained a two-goal advantage with 9:26 remaining in the period and took a 3-1 lead into the second intermission.

Aurora added another insurance goal 12:49 into the third that thwarted any Gustie comeback. Evan Erickson (Sr., Woodbury, Minn.) scored with 26 second remaining in the game, but it was too little, too late.

Shots were even at 30-30 as Robbie Goor (So., Anoka, Minn.) made 26 saves in the loss. The Gusties went 1-4 on the power play and killed off both of their penalties.

Gustavus next hosts UW-Eau Claire at 7:05 p.m. Friday.
