Women’s Hockey Set for Tough Test with No. 4 Hamline

The No. 9 ranked women’s hockey will take on No. 4 Hamline this weekend in a home-home doubleheader.

SAINT PETER, Minn. – The No. 9 ranked women’s hockey will take on No. 4 Hamline this weekend in a home-home doubleheader. The game on Friday will be at Don Roberts Ice Rink in Saint Peter, Minn. at 7 p.m., while the game Saturday will be at the TRIA Rink in St. Paul, Minn. at 2 p.m. The Gusties enter the contests 3-0-1 and 2-0-0 in the MIAC while the Pipers are 4-0-0 with a 2-0-0 mark in conference.

GUSTAVUS GAME NOTES

Scouting the Gusties: The Gusties are coming off a weekend sweep of St. Olaf by scores of 1-0 and 4-1. They have been led offensively this season by Allie Stanger (Sr., Paynesville, Minn.) who has three points on a goal and two assists. Lilia Scheid (Fy., Stillwater, Minn.) is coming off a two-goal contest against St. Olaf and is the only Gustie with multiple goals this season. Kristina Press (Fy., Cottage Grove, Minn.) and Amelia Vosen (Jr., Nowthen, Minn.)have also recorded two points with a goal and an assist each. Amanda DiNella (Sr., Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.) has been solid in net this season making 100 saves while allowing just four goals for a save percentage of .962.

Scouting the Pipers: The Pipers are coming off their best season in school history in 2017-18 when they won 22 games and placed third in the NCAA tournament. Bre Simon has been the star on offense for the Pipers this season as she has posted five goals and five assists and leads the MIAC with 10 points. The Pipers have four other players with multiple goals this year with Becca Zarembinski scoring four times. Molly Garin leads the MIAC in assists as she has posted six on the season and put herself in a tie for second in the MIAC with seven points scored.
