Hensch Named Men’s Indoor Field Athlete Of The Week

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Men’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards this afternoon, with Michael Hensch (Jr., North Branch, Minn.) earning the field athlete of the week honor.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Men’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards this afternoon, with Michael Hensch (Jr., North Branch, Minn.) earning the field athlete of the week honor.  

The Gusties competed at the St. Olaf Quadrangular last Friday in Northfield, Minn., recording 99 points for a third place finish. Hensch led the Black and Gold throwers, winning the shot put for a second consecutive week with a throw of 49-11.75. Hensch also finished third in the weight throw with a toss of 52-10 en route to earning his first career indoor athlete of the week accolade. 

Hensch’s shot put of 52-8.25 at the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic Jan. 19 stands as the eighth best in Division III.

Next up, the Gusties are set to compete at the Minnesota State Mankato Ted Nelson Classic next Saturday.
