ST. PETER, Minn. – The No. 25-ranked Gustavus women’s basketball team is set to host St. Catherine University tomorrow afternoon at Gus Young Court. The Gusties (13-3, 7-2 MIAC) and the Wildcats (7-9, 3-6 MIAC) tipoff at 3 p.m.
Last Time Out
Gustavus got back to its winning ways Wednesday evening, defeating Augsburg 84-58 in Minneapolis, Minn. A strong first quarter set the pace for the Gusties as they jumped out to a 23-8 lead, then held on to at least a 20-point lead throughout the second half. Kendall Thompson (Jr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) led the Gusties, scoring a career-high 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor.
The Series
Saturday’s game will mark the 57th all-time meeting between the Gustavus and St. Catherine, with the Gusties holding an 52-4 advantage in the series. Last season, the Gusties earned two wins over the Wildcats.
Scouting St. Catherine
St. Kate’s most recently snapped a three-game losing skid with a 61-58 victory over Concordia College in St. Paul, Minn. on Wednesday. As a team, the Wildcats average 60.1 points per game and own a 36.5 field goal percentage. Sophomore guard Danica Cambrice has missed seven game but leads the team with 17.8 points per game, scoring in double figures in all but one game.
