ST. PETER, Minn. – The No. 5-ranked Gustavus women’s hockey team heads back into Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play tonight, opening a series with Augsburg University in Minneapolis, Minn. Gustavus enters tonights game 11-2-2 overall and 5-2-1 in the MIAC, while the Auggies are 9-4-2 overall and 4-2-2 during conference play.

Last Time Out

The Gusties wrapped up its non-conference schedule on Tuesday, hosting the University of Wisconsin-Superior at Don Roberts Ice Rink. Despite seeing its three-goal lead falter in the third period, Erica Power’s (Sr., Lakeville, Minn.) game-winner and Diana Draayer’s (Sr., Deephaven, Minn.) third career hat-trick led the Gusties to a 5-3 win.

Series Snapshot

Friday’s game will mark the 44th all-time meeting between the Gustavus and Augsburg women’s ice hockey programs, with the Gusties holding an 33-9-1 advantage in the series. Last season, the two teams came away with a series split, trading 1-0 wins. 

Scouting Augsburg

The Auggies most recently lost 0-1 and tied 4-4 versus Hamline University last weekend. Augsburg ranks atop the MIAC allowing just 1.58 goals against per game, with the goaltending duo of McKenna Manalli and Rebecca Sonnek leading the way. Manalli has posted a 1.30 goals against average (2nd/MIAC), while Sonnek allows 1.88 (4th/MIAC) per game. Sophomore forward Bridget Wagner leads the offense with 13 points (6g-7a).
