GRINNELL, Iowa – The Gustavus men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams kicked off competition Friday at the Grinnell Pioneer Classic and both teams sit in first place after the first session. The Gustie men accumulated 523 points, ahead of second place Grinnell with 310 points, while the Gustie women posted 392 points, ahead of second place Grinnell with 286 points.
“Despite the ling drive the team came out ready to swim,” Head Coach Jon Carlson said. “O=It was one of those sessions where we had a few great 500 freestyle races to start and that really lit a fire under the team. We’re really looking forward to tomorrow.”
The men’s squad claimed three first-place finishes out of six events throughout the first session, while the women took first in four of six events. Here are the top Gustavus results from each event:
