ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams host St. Olaf College at 1 p.m. Saturday for a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual meet at Vic Gustafson Pool.
Men’s last time out: The Gusties hosted the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point last Saturday for their home opener and lost the dual meet 179-121. Tanner Sonnek (Jr., North Mankato, Minn.) won both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke with times of 58.34 and 2:09.95. Nolan Larson (Fy., West Des Moines, Iowa) took first in the 200 butterfly in 1:58.98 and second in the 100 freestyle, touching the wall in 47.78. Josh Muntifering (Fy., Buffalo, Minn.) won the 200 backstroke in 1:59.67. And Mack Christianson (Fy., Cottage Grove, Minn.) was the fourth Gustie to claim first-place finishes, winning the 1000 free in 10:10.76 and the 500 free in 5:00.46.
Women’s last time out: The Gusties hosted the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Minnesota State University-Mankato last Saturday for their home opener, defeating the Pointers 206.5-92.5 and losing to the Mavericks 214-85. Sydney Hallmark (Jr., Cedarburg, Wis.) won the 200 freestyle in 2:00.76 and Kate Reilly (Sr., Hastings, Minn.) won the 100 free in 54.10. Other notable performances included second place finishes by Allie Mayfield (So., Two Harbors, Minn.) in the 1000 free (11:26.32), Maggie Webster (Jr., Apple Valley, Minn.) in the 50 free (25.06), Kennedy Holwerda (Sr., Willmar, Minn.) in the 200 back (2:18.84), and Amelia Bjorklund (Fy., Bloomington, Minn.) in the 500 free (5:34.15).
