Kershner, Kopp Earn All-America At NCGA Championship

Gustavus senior gymnasts Lauren Kershner (Marine, Ill.) and Alex Kopp (Wayzata, Minn.) Friday both earned All-America status in the all-around at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championship, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Kopp took sixth place with a score of 37.325, while Kershner took 10th with a 36.750.

RESULTS

MENOMONIE, Wis. – Gustavus senior gymnasts Lauren Kershner (Marine, Ill.) and Alex Kopp (Wayzata, Minn.) Friday both earned All-America status in the all-around at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championship, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Kopp took sixth place with a score of 37.325, while Kershner took 10th with a 36.750.

Kopp’s all-around performance was highlighted by a fourth place finish on the floor, scoring a 9.675. She took 12th on vault at 9.375, 15th on bars at 9.425, and 33rd on beam at 8.850. Kershner took 20th on bars at 9.300, 27th on floor at 9.375, 29th on vault at 9.200, and 32nd on beam at 8.875. The All-America recognitions by Kopp and Kershner are the 95th and 96th in Gustavus gymnastics program history.

Kershner’s career is now done, while Kopp will compete on the vault tomorrow in the individual event championship. Sam Ardy (So., Thousand Oaks, Calif.) will also compete tomorrow – on the uneven bars.
