Track & Field Set For St. Olaf Triangular

The Gustavus men’s and women’s track & field teams are set to compete at the St. Olaf Triangular today, which includes the host Oles, Bethel, and the Gusties. The meet begins at 4 p.m. at the Tostrud Center on the campus of St. Olaf.

The Gustavus men’s and women’s track and field teams started the indoor season strong last Friday at Macalester’s Kilt Classic. The men took first place with 179 points, including seven individual event champions, while the women took third place with 116 points, including three event champs.

The women’s team was highlighted by first place finishes by Lily Anderson (Fy., Waterville, Minn.), Haley Anderson (Fy., Eden Prairie, Minn.), and Sadie Novak Klug (Jr., Waseca, Minn.). Lily Anderson won the 400-meter with a time of 1:03.85, Haley Anderson won the 800-meter in 2:31.65, and Novak-Klug crossed the line first in the one-mile at 5:23.41.

Kayla Stowell (So., Le Sueur, Minn.) placed second in the 60-meter in 7.97 seconds, which is her second best personal time. Olivia Rosenow (Jr., Maple Grove, Minn.) also claimed a silver, crossing the 3000-meter line in 11:15.23. Emily Sands (Sr., Rochester, Minn.) was close behind at 11:18.16. Siri Olson (Fy., Northfield, Minn.) captured another second place finish, tossing the shot put 33-11.5.

The men’s team received impressive first place performances from Kyle Fredrickson (Sr., Victoria, Minn.), Carston Dammann (Sr., Lake City, Minn.), Trevor Maxwell (Sr., Prior Lake, Minn.), Nelson Finne (So., Elgin, Minn.), Derek Huntley (Sr., Maplewood, Minn.), Alvin Onkware (Fy., Bloomington, Minn.), and Michael Hensch So., North Branch, Minn.). Fredrickson posted a personal-best time of 1:55.62 in the 1000-meter; Dammann won the 3000-meter in 9:13.82; Maxwell crossed the 60-meter hurdles line in 8.92; Finne leaped 5-9.75 in the high jump; Huntley cleared 14-3.25 in the pole vault; Onkware soared 42-0 in the triple jump; and Hensch tossed the shot put 50-2.

Other notable performances include Sam ReMine (Sr., Mantorville, Minn.) taking second in the 400-meter at 52.40, Ryley Sandberg (Jr., Polk City, Iowa) second in the 1000-meter at 2:36.46, Will Neuenfeldt (Sr., Cottage Grove, Minn.) second in the shot put at 41-10, and Hensch second in the weight throw at 49-6.5.
