ST. PETER, Minn. – The No. 24-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball team continues Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday evening, traveling to Arden Hills, Minn. to compete against Bethel University. The 10-3 (5-1 MIAC) Royals are set to host the 13-0 (6-0 MIAC) Gusties at 7 p.m.

Setting the scene: The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball team continues Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Wedneday evening, traveling to Bethel University.
Gustvaus most recently earned its 13th win of the season Saturday afternoon, defeating the College of Saint Benedict by a score of 71-50. The Gusties tied a program record 13-0 start to the season, originally set by the 2002-03 Gustie squad. Miranda Rice (Jr., Forest Lake, Minn.) led the Gusties, recording a careerhigh 30 points.
In the polls: The Gusties cracked the D3hoops.com Top 25, marking the first national ranking by the Gusties since Feb. 27, 2007.
The Series: Wednesday’s contest marks the 64th all-time meeting between Gustavus and Bethel with the Gusties holding a 38-25 record over the Royals. Last season, Gustavus won both games against Bethel.
Scouting the Royals: Bethel University is off to a 5-1 start during Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, including a most recent 71-64 victory over Augsburg College. The Royals average a MIAC best 38.7 three-point shooting percentage. First-year Taite Anderson has shot 13-25 from beyond the arc to post a MIAC best 52.0 percentage mark. Senior forward Kalli Zimmermann leads the Royals, averaging 15.2 points per game.
Gustavus notables:
– The Gusties’ 13-0 start ties the best start in program history. The 2002-03 Gustavus squad also began the season with a 13-0 record before suffering its first loss.
– Gustavus ranks first in the MIAC in free throw percentage (79.1%), assists per game (17.8), and steals per game with (12.9).
– Miranda Rice registered a career-high 30 points in the win against the College of Saint Benedict.
– Mikayla Miller (Jr., Goodhue, Minn.) tallied 10 points to move into the Gustavus women’s basketball top-10 career scoring leaderboard. Miller now sits in ninth with 1,086 career points.
– Saturday’s win against Saint Benedict marked the 11th win in which the Gusties won by double figures.
– Mikayla Miller and Miranda Rice rank as the second and third leading scorers in the MIAC, Miller averaging 17.5 points per game with Rice averaging 16.8.
– Hannah Howard (Sr., St. Paul, Minn.) ranks second in the MIAC with a 61.0 field goal percentage. Rice trails right behind Howard, shooting 60.3 percent.
