DAY ONE RESULTS

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Gustavus men’s golf team sits in third place after day one at the Transylvania Fall Invitational, played at the University Club of Kentucky. The Gusties shot a 597, 21-over par Saturday, which is 15 strokes behind the leader, Greensboro. Wittenberg is two strokes behind in second.

“I thought we started out a bit defensive with our swings and we didn’t take advantage of some scoring opportunities in the first round,” Assistant Coach Randy Stuckey said. “We emphasized our energy and picking up a bit of swagger for the second round and it paid off. We are in a good position to play some good golf and play to our potential tomorrow. I like our five guys.”

Ben Hauge (Fy., Ramsey, Minn.) leads the Gusties after a shooting a 75-74-149, which is five-over par and tied for 11th place. Chris Captain (Jr., Rochester, Minn.) is next in line with a 75-75-150. Max Savini (So., Ramsey, Minn.) shot a 78-72-150, Alec Aunan (Jr., Rock Island, Ill.) posted a 79-72-151, and Sam Majka (Sr., Wayzata, Minn.) shot a 77-74-151.

Grant Powell of Greensboro and Carson Riley of Centre lead the field with scores of 142 (-2).
