ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s and women’s golf teams are each back in action this weekend, one week removed from competition in the Augsburg Invitational. The women travel to Coon Rapids, Minnesota on Saturday and Sunday for the Minnesota State University, Mankato Invite that will be played at Bunker Hills Country Club, while the men host the Bobby Krig Invite, with Sunday’s first round to be played at The Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan, Minn. and Monday’s final round at Le Sueur Country Club in Le Sueur, Minn.
The women’s team will face primarily Division I and II competition at Bunker Hills, with the University of Minnesota, University of Jamestown, Bemidji State, Winona State, St. Cloud State, University of Sioux Falls, and Minot State serving as opposition.
The Gustie men host their lone meet of the spring with the Bobby Krig Invite on Sunday and Monday. Augsburg, Bethel, Carleton, Macalester, Minnesota State, Mankato, Saint John’s, St. Olaf, St. Scholastica, St. Thomas and Wisonsin-Eau Claire make up the field of competition. Both teams are coming off championship weekends at the Augsburg Invitational. The men’s team carded a 594 (301-293) as a team to finish first by 19 shots, while the women shot a 345 Saturday and a 350 Sunday, for a two-day total of 695 and a 10-shot victory over second-place Bethel. Andrew Brandt (Sr., Medina, Minn.) and McKenzie Swenson (So., Buffalo, Minn.) starred for the Gusties, taking first and second in their respective individual fields, and each earned MIAC Golfer of the Week honors as a result.
