Volleyball Hosts Quadrangular Saturday

The Gustavus volleyball team is set to host its second quadrangular of the season on Saturday. Teams participating this weekend include the Gusties, Simpson College, Loras College and Hamline University.

The Gusties hold a 19-2 overall record and are 7-0 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Gustavus defeated Macalester College in four sets Wednesday night in St. Peter. The Gusties won by set scores of 25-15, 25-6, 22-25 and 25-14 to increase their win streak to 19 matches, which is one behind the program record.

Taylor Trautman (Jr., Hutchinson, Minn.) posted a career-high 17 kills on 27 attempts and three errors for an impressive attack percentage of .519 to lead the Gusties. Becca Woodstra (Sr., Minnetonka, Minn.) also reached double figure kills with 11. Nora Holtan (Fy., Rochester, Minn.) distributed 39 assists and Brittany Luethmers (Fy., Prior Lake, Minn.) had a game-high 22 digs.

The Storm enter with an 11-14 overall record and are 0-5 in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Simpson most recently lost in five sets to Graceland on Thursday in Indianola, Iowa by scores of 25-20, 25-19, 16-25, 22-25 and 11-15.

Tabitha Blaser and Mackenzie McGraw led the offense with 13 and 11 kills, respectively. Sara Hoppenworth and Maura Chadwick each posted 21 assists, and Olivia Sulentic tallied a team-high 28 digs.

Liz Jendra led the Duhawk offense with nine kills. Claire Ritchie posted 16 assists and Jenna Erickson also reached double figures in assists with 11. Haley Bergan and Ritchie led the back line with 18 and 16 digs, respectively.

Julia Zolnosky led the offense with nine kills, while Amelia Jensen posted eight assists and nine digs to lead the team in both categories.
