The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2016 Volleyball Awards on Wednesday and Gustavus took home four All-Conference awards, as well as the top honor of Player-of-the-Year. In just her sophomore campaign, Nora Holtan (Rochester, Minn.) earns MIAC Player-of-the-Year after a stellar season. Lauren Hanson (So., Redwood Falls, Minn.), Brittany Luethmers (So., Prior Lake, Minn.), and Taylor Trautman (Sr., Hutchinson, Minn.) join Holtan on the 2016 All-Conference Team, marking the third time in program history that four Gusties were selected.

Volleyball Falls In Close Five-Set Match At Saint Mary’s

The Gustavus volleyball team ended the regular season Saturday with a five-set loss at Saint Mary’s. The Gusties lost by set scores of 21-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-17, 12-15, dropping to 21-7 overall and 9-2 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. After playing five non-conference matches, the Gustavus volleyball team returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Friday as it takes on Concordia College at Gus Young Court. The Gusties enter the match after escaping with a 3-2 victory over Buena Vista on Tuesday, while the Cobbers were most recently shut out by Colorado College on Saturday. Gustavus is 18-6 overall and 6-1 in the MIAC, while Concordia is 8-14 overall and 4-3 in the MIAC.
