Rachael Click and Erin Truebenbach Named MIAC Softball Players of the Week

Senior shortstop Rachael Click has been named Player of the Week and sophomore pitcher Erin Truebenbach has been named Pitcher of the Week by the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Click and Truebenbach were both instrumental in helping the Gusties post a record of 8-0 last week and extend their unbeaten streak to 18 games.

Senior shortstop Rachael Click has been named Player of the Week and sophomore pitcher Erin Truebenbach has been named Pitcher of the Week by the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Click and Truebenbach were both instrumental in helping the Gusties post a record of 8-0 last week and extend their unbeaten streak to 18 games.

Click (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) played a major role in helping the Gusties post wins over Bethel (5-1, 6-0), Hamline (5-0, 2-1), St. Benedict (8-0, 9-2), and Saint Mary’s (4-3, 4-0). Click went 12-for-23 at the plate with five home runs, eight runs scored, and nine runs batted in. Her batting average was .523, while her slugging percentage was 1.173, and her on-base percentage was .695. Click, who became the career home run leader at Gustavus during the week (currently with 27), hit one home run against Bethel, two against Hamline, and two against St. Benedict. Against the Blazers, Click was 6-for-6 in the doubleheader (including the two home runs) with five runs scored and 5 RBI. She also became the career RBI leader at Gustavus during the week as she pushed her four-year total to 155. Click is currently hitting .444 with a slugging percentage of .901 and an on-base percentage of .510.

Erin Truebenbach (Mankato, Minn./Maple River) compiled a record of 3-0 on the week with a 0.31 earned run average, while holding her opponents to a .077 batting average. Truebenbach opened the week with a complete game no-hitter against Bethel as she struck out nine and walked two. It marked the first time in Gustavus softball history that a pitcher had tossed back-to-back no-hitters as Truebenbach had thrown a five-inning perfect game against Macalester the previous Saturday. Truebenbach also claimed a 2-1 win over Hamline on Thursday as she scattered six hits in seven innings, while striking out five. She threw one perfect inning in relief against Saint Benedict on Saturday and then wrapped up the week with a one-hitter against Saint Mary’s as she struck out two and walked two in a 4-0 victory. Truebenbach is now 10-1 on the season with a 1.12 ERA.

Gustavus, which is having one of its finest seasons in the program’s history, is currently 27-3 overall and in first place in the MIAC with a record of 16-0.
