Scott Hagemeyer Named MIAC Swimmer of the Meet

Gustavus Adolphus freshman sprinter Scott Hagemeyer has been named the 2004 MIAC Male Swimmer of the Meet by the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Swim Coaches.

Gustavus Adolphus freshman swimmer Scott Hagemeyer has been named the 2004 MIAC Male Swimmer of the Meet by the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Swim Coaches. Hagemeyer won three individual races setting three school records and one MIAC Championships meet record as helped the Gusties claim their third consecutive league title. The freshman from Willmar, Minnesota was also a member of four championship relay teams including one that set a MIAC Championship meet record.

Hagemeyer set three school individual records and one MIAC meet record during the three day meet. He won the 50-yard freestyle and holds the top time in NCAA Division III this season. The time of 20.41 in the 50-yard freestyle is also a MIAC meet record and a school record. Hagemeyer claimed the 100-yard freestyle title with a time of 45.69, which is the second fastest time in NCAA Division III this season and a school record. The freshman claimed his third individual title in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 51.93, which is his third individual school record.

Hagemeyer also assisted in winning four of the five relay titles at the conference meet. The team of Brian Amundson, Scott Weidmann, Will Sutor, and Hagemeyer claimed the 400-yard relay title with a time of 3:06.48 and set a MIAC meet record. The team of Mike Maynard, Marc Maynard, Sutor, and Hagemeyer claimed the 400-yard medley relay title with a time of 3:25.68. This is the fourth fastest time in NCAA Division III this season. The team of Mike Maynard, Brad Hammer, Sutor, and Hagemeyer claimed the 200-yard medley relay title with a time of 1:32.79, which is the fastest time in NCAA Division III this season. The team of Sutor, Hagemeyer, Amundson, and Evan Christianson claimed the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:23.61, which is the third fastest time in NCAA Division III this season.

Hagemeyer will now prepare for the NCAA Division III Championships, which will take placed March 18-20 in St. Louis, Missouri
