Women’s Golf Coach Scott Moe Named Division III National Coach of the Year

Gustavus Adolphus College women’s golf coach Scott Moe has been named the Division III National Coach of the Year by the National Golf Coaches Association.

Gustavus Adolphus College women’s golf coach Scott Moe has been named the Division III National Coach of the Year by the National Golf Coaches Association. This is the third time that he has been honored as the National Coach of the Year, as he was named the Golf Coaches Association National Coach of the Year in men’s golf in 2004 and the NGCA National Coach of the Year in women’s golf in 2008 and now in 2010.

Moe directed the Gustavus women’s golf team to the NCAA Championship for the seventh time in eight years in 2010. Since taking over at the helm in the Fall of 2003, the Gusties finished sixth in 2004, second in 2006, and third in 2007, sixth in 2008, and third in 2009. The team is currently in third place at the midway point of the 2010 NCAA Championships.

This season, Moe’s team produced three NGCA All-America selections (Katie Schenfeld, Taylor Drenttel, and Kali Griggs), four NCGA Midwest All-Region selections (Schenfeld, Drenttel, Griggs, and Ann Jackson), four all-conference honorees (Schenfeld, Drenttel, Griggs, and Jackson), MIAC Player of the Year (Schenfeld) and MIAC Senior Player of the Year (Griggs).

In his seventh year as head coach of the Gustavus women’s golf program, Moe has been named Midwest Region Coach of the Year three times (2008, 2009, and 2010) and MIAC Coach of the Year three times (2005, 2009, 2010). Eight of his golfers have earned All-America honors, while 12 golfers have earned All-Region status. He has directed his squad to two consecutive MIAC Championship Titles.

A 1995 graduate of Gustavus, Moe won three MIAC individual titles and played on four conference championship teams. He earned All-America honors in 1993 and 1995 and was named a Golf Coaches Association of America All-American Scholar in 1995.
