The Gustavus men’s outdoor track and field totaled 19 top five finishes and two event wins at the Lee Krough Invitational held on the Gustavus Outdoor Track and Field Complex on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn.  Max Hanson and Mark Bartley turned in the top Gustavus performances of the meet.  Hanson was victorious in the 1500-meter run (3:57.63), and Bartley won the 3000-meter steeplechase (10:17.45).  No team scores were kept at the meet.

Max Hanson also finished runner-up in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.37.  Other top performers in the track events included Cole Carlson, Matt Dvorak, John Kennedy, Andrew Tillman, Colby Citrowske, Matt Leeb, Tony Reed, and Mark Hartman.  Carlson placed second in the 400-meter dash (48.75).  Dvorak took third in both the 100-meter dash (11.28) and 200-meter dash (23.20), and added a fifth place finish in the long jump (19’ 02.75”).  Kennedy placed third in the 1500-meter run (4:01.54) and fourth in the 800-meter run (1:58.90).  Tillman took third in the steeplechase with a time of 11:01.48, and Citrowske placed fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.44.  Leeb crossed in fifth place in the 400-meter dash (48.75), Reed took fifth in the 200-meter dash (23.21), and Hartman finished also finished fifth in the 5000-meter run (15:41.74).

In the field events, Brian Anderson, Jake Peymann, and Matt Nemec registered top five finishes.  Anderson placed second in the hammer throw (164’ 0”), third in the shot put (49’ 08.25”), and sixth in the discus (125’ 02”).  Peymann placed runner up in the high jump, clearing 6’ 02.75”, and third in the long jump with a leap of 20’ 01”.  Nemec finished fourth  in the pole vault, clearing 14’ 02”.

The Gustavus 4×100 relay team of Carlson, Leeb, Citrowske, and Dvorak took first place with a time of 43.29.  The 4×400 relay team consisting of Leeb, Carlson, Citrowske, and Hanson also took first place, crossing the finish line in 3:17.01.

The Gustavus men’s outdoor track and field team will travel to Northfield, Minn. on Saturday, April 17, to take part in the Carleton College Relays.
