The Gustavus baseball team defeated Thomas College 12-1 and 4-1 in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday afternoon. Alan Woitas was the winning pitcher in game one and Tim Miller was the winning pitcher in game two. Willie Hanson went 3-for-4 with a four RBI to lead the Gusties in their 12-1 win in game one.
In the first game, Alan Woitas pitched all seven innings limiting Thomas to one run on seven hits. Willie Hanson had a big day at the plate as he was 3-for-4 with four RBI. Andrew Woitas was 2-for-3 and Drew Block was 2-for-2.
In the second game, Tim Miller was the star for Gustavus as he threw a complete game limiting Thomas College to one run on six hits. He also picked up a key hit at the plate when he drove in two runs with a single extending the Gustie lead to 4-1 in the top of the seventh inning.
Gustavus, which evened its overall record at 3-3, will play Marian University of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, in a doubleheader on Sunday at 2:00 pm (CDT).
