SAINT PETER, Minn. — Friday marked the Gusties’ last meet before the WIAC Championships, last home meet of the year, and Senior Night — and the Gusties made it count.

Placing first in three of the four events, the Gusties defeated Hamline by a score of 185.800-183.300. The Gusties were dominant on nearly all fronts, getting seven career-bests and eight season-bests.

Marley Michaud (So., Sartell) started the Gusties off strong on vault, leading the way with a score of 9.475, good for first overall. Abby Willis (Jr., San Bernardino, Calif.) and Lindsay Bangs (So., Owatonna) picked up third and fourth in the event, with scores of 9.400 and 9.325  respectively.

Annie Corbett (Sr., Brookfield, Wis.) made her senior night bars routine one to remember, leading the meet with a score of 9.425 for a season-high score in the event. Maddox Lee (Fy., Hugo) capped off the last home meet of her freshman year with a 9.375 showing on bars, good for second overall. Sophie Schmitz (Jr., Buffalo) finished third in the event at 9.300 for a season- and career-high, and Michaud added another top-5 finish, finishing fifth on the bars with a score of 9.075.

The Pipers were strongest on the beam, beating out the Gusties for the first three spots. Olivia Jahnke (So., Hanover) posted the team’s highest beam score at 9.275. Katy Cash (Jr., Canton, Mich.) was second for the Gusties in the event with a score of 9.175.

Jahnke was dominant in her floor routine, posting the best score of the meet at 9.750 for a personal-best. Lili Guy (So., Glendale Heights, Ill.) added another career-best, placing third with a score of 9.675, followed by Willis at 9.575 for a career-high and Michaud rounding out the top-5 at 9.525.

The Gusties are back in action next weekend for the WIAC Championships, hosted by UW-Oshkosh, starting at 2 p.m. on the 11th.
