SAINT PETER, Minn. — The Gusties faced quite the opponent Friday night, after all, the Eagles entered the meet as the current WIAC leader with a conference record of 6-0 and overall record of 7-2. The Gusties, hot off their record-setting performance against UW-Stout last week, gave the Eagles a good fight, but ultimately fell by a score of 189.525-184.775.

In the first rotation, the Gusties were led by Abby Willis (Jr., San Bernardino, Calif.) on vault, who earned a 9.375 for fifth overall. Alaina Syverson (So., Rogers) also added a career-best on vault with a score of 9.050.

Maddox Lee (Fy., Hugo), who has led the Gusties on the bars all season, did so once again, posting a team-high 9.400 for fifth overall, just shy of her career-best earned last Friday. Sophie Schmitz (Jr., Buffalo) continued her consistent performances, adding a 9.250 for sixth overall, just behind Lee.

Both Izzy Breitkreutz (Jr., Big Lake) and Olivia Jahnke (So., Hanover) finished in the top-5 on the beam, with Breitkreutz earning a 9.500 for second overall and Jahnke posting a 9.400 for third. Marley Michaud (So., Sartell) the team’s only All-Around competitor, picked up a season-high 9.000 on beam, as well.

The Gusties posted their highest event score in the floor exercise with a 47.050, led by Jahnke who posted a season- and career-best 9.650, good for fourth overall. Lili Guy (So., Glendale Heights, Ill.) added a season- and career-high as well with a 9.475, her second career-high in as many meets.

The Gusties finished with scores of 46.125 on vault, 45.975 on bars, 45.625 on beam, and 47.050 on floor. The Gusties are back once more next Friday, hosting Hamline in Saint Peter for their regular season finale.
