ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Gustavus hurdler Birgen Nelson (Edina) did it again.

After setting the all-time NCAA Division III record in the 60-hurdles back in December to start the indoor season, Nelson on Saturday improved her time down to 8.33 in the semifinals of the USATF Indoor Championships. Her time was fourth best in her heat and she qualified for the finals, which aired on national television. Nelson then ran an 8.42 in the finals, taking sixth place in the nation. Alaysha Johnson won the gold with a time of 7.83.

Nelson now returns to Minnesota where she will prepare for next week’s MIAC Indoor Championships, where she is the favorite in multiple events.
