MANKATO, Minn. – The Gustavus track and field teams had high marks on the first day of the Maverick open highlighted by a season high from Madi Kes in the triple jump (11.67m) who placed second in a DI field. Carson Roehl brought in a win for the Gusties in the 1500 (4:09.08m).

The Gusties started the day in long jump led off by Isaiah Subah placing fourth for the men’s team (6.99m) while Olivia Thomley placed 12th in the event (4.35m).

Oliva Motley was next for the Gusties in high jump recording a mark of 1.54m to place seventh. Ben Urbaniak was the Gustavus leader in pole vault reaching 3.72m and Jenna Bunker placed sixth for the women’s team (2.83m).

Peter Oviguian (42.93m) and Lakesha Carter (33.69m) each placed fourth in javelin.

Sydney Hagen led off for the Gusties in running events, racing the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 12:43.01. Danielle Miller placed fifth in the 100 hurdles (15.43). 

Noah Johnson kept the Gustavus rally going with clocking a 1:56.38 in the 800 for second place while Lily Engebretson placed fourth at 2:34.46.

In the 400 hurdles, Calvin Moeller placed eighth for the Gusties with a time of 59.95m.

Wyatt Quiring brought home second for the Gusties in the 200 dash with a time of 22.24, Megan Geraets placed fourth with a 26.81. Abby Vizenor’s 5:31.34 ranked 11th in the 1500.

Jake Wielgos came in second right behind Roehl in the 1500m at 4:21.87. 

Gusties will compete in the MIAC Multis beginning tomorrow and wrap up Mankato on Saturday.
