MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – The Gustavus women’s golf team finished its first competition of the spring season Monday at the Washington University-St. Louis Spring Invitational and took seventh place out of 14 teams. The Gusties carded a 311-321-632 (+72). Illinois Wesleyan won the invite with a 290-310-600.

Erin Ericson (Sr., Onalaska, Wis.) tied for 12th place after finishing at 74-78-152 (+12). Annika Reierson (So., Delano) carded a 79-80-159 and tied for 32nd. Emily Kratz (Sr., Edina) posted a 78-82-160, tying for 37th. Laurel Ward (Jr., Bozeman, Mont.) shot an 80-81-161 and finished in a tie for 40th place, and Sydney Regalado (Sr., Rosemount) tied for 61st after finishing with an 84-84-168.

“We played a different set of tees today, so course played much tougher,” Head Coach Scott Moe said. “It took us a while to get our footing. This time of year, short game is the last part of the game to come around, some players found it a little earlier than others, but it will still be our focal point moving forward. Nice tourney for Erin, some really good, nationally ranked, players in the field. Strong field again in Wartburg next weekend, we have a few days to tidy up a few things and we will be ready to go.”

Gustavus next competes at Wartburg on Saturday and Sunday in Waverly, Iowa.
