Women’s Track & Field in Fourth After Day One of MIAC Indoor Championships, Men Eighth Posted on February 25th, 2022 by

FRIDAY RESULTS

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s and women’s track & field teams concluded day one of the MIAC Indoor Championships on Friday at Carleton College with the women in fourth place (57.5) and the men in eighth place (19). Bethel leads the women’s competition with 73 points while Saint John’s leads the men at 102 points.

On the women’s side, All-Conference performances came from Birgen Nelson, Megan Geraets, Elizabeth Donnelly, Erin Beer, and Olivia Motley. Nelson took second place in the 55-hurdles with a time of 8.14. Danielle Miller also scored in the race at sixth place in 8.93. Geraets took second on the 400-meter podium, clocking in at 58.95. Donnelly was runner-up in the 800-meter with a time of 2:14.13. Beer and Motley tied for third in the high jump with a clearance of 4-11.5. Alli Joerger and Ally Rakow also scored in the high jump at seventh (4-9.5) and eighth (4-9.5), respectively.

Geraets also scored in the long jump, taking fourth place with a distance of 17-4. Madi Kes took sixth at 17-2. Iliana Ramon took fourth place in the 5000-meter, crossing the line in 17:58.55. Kate Carlson placed sixth in the 55-meter with a time of 7.45. The distance medley relay team of Molly Weberg, Makenna Huetten, Kailyn Walukas, and Mackinzee Miest took seventh in 13:07.47.

On the men’s side, the distance medley relay team of Jack Degonda, Seth Zeitchick, Markus Rupnow, and Tucker Wallin took fourth in 10:32.58. Wallin also scored points in the mile with a fifth place finish in 4:17.52. Carson Kiehne also had a fifth place finish, crossing the 55-meter line in 6.71. Wyatt Quiring took sixth place in the 400-meter at 50.60. The Gusties went 7-8 in the 800-meter with Tyler Smith at 1:59.95 and Blake Fuller at 1:59.97.

Day two of the MIAC Championships begins at 11:45 a.m. Saturday with field events, while track events begin at 1 p.m.
