LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Andrew Stumbo (Sr., Boone, Iowa) capped his Gustavus cross country career Saturday at the NCAA Championships, taking 109th place out of 289 runners with a time of 24:55.5. Stumbo’s time today was his personal best and third fastest 8k time in program history, just seven seconds behind Bob Klindworth’s mark of 24:48 in 1991.

“I’m just really proud of him and the effort he put out there today,” Head Coach Brenden Huber said. “In the past two times he was here at the national meet, he wasn’t in position to earn All-America but today he stuck his nose in the middle of it and really put his best effort out there. He’s certainly left a legacy in our program and will go down as one of our best runners ever.”

Alex Phillip of John Carroll won the national championship with a time of 23:27.6. Pomona-Pitzer won the team championship with its top five runners all finishing in the top-26.
