SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The No. 6-ranked Gustavus women’s hockey team completed the series sweep over St. Catherine on Saturday afternoon with a 1-0 win, improving to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the MIAC.

The Gusties scored the lone goal of the game with just nine seconds remaining in the first period. Kristina Press (Sr., Cottage Grove) scored her team-leading third goal of the season with the help of Kayla Vrieze (Sr., Eagan) and Hailey Holland (Jr., Aberdeen, S.D.).

“We didn’t get off to the greatest start, but that was a nice timely goal,” Head Coach Mike Carroll said. “There were a lot of lessons learned this weekend and we found a way to get the job done. Today was a silver lining for our team after the lopsided score last night and to have to grind it out today. The kids handled that really well and you can’t duplicate that in practice. It certainly made our team better.”
