SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus volleyball team hosted the Saint Benedict Bennies for a Saturday night contest where the Gusties took a straight set win with scores of 25-17, 25-15, and 25-13. With the victory, the team moves to 22-5 overall and 7-1 in the MIAC.

Both teams entered the first set tied 7-7, a pair of kills from Kate Holtan (Sr., Rochester) and Marlee Turn (So., Kennedy) elevated Gustavus to a 17-13 lead. The Gusties ignited in set two, with an 11-5 early lead and a 14-6 run that the Bennies couldn’t respond to. Additionally, Sarah Elliott (Jr., Lombard, Ill.) and Holtan each tacked on five kills a piece.

Running away with a weekend conference sweep, Gustavus dominated in an 8-2 advantage before racking up two four-point runs for a 25-13 closer in the conference match.

Kasie Tweet (So., Adrian) put up 37 assists, while Holtan recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs, and Hailey Embacher (Sr., Mankato) notched 13 digs. Turn finished the night with 12 kills and nine digs.
