Volleyball’s Season Ends With Loss to UW-Eau Claire in NCAA Regional Semifinal

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The Gustavus volleyball team’s season came to an end Friday night at the NCAA regional semifinals, dropping a four-set match to the number one seed UW-Eau Claire by scores of 16-25, 16-25, 25-16, 16-25. The Gusties end their season 27-6 overall.

Holtan Breaks Kills Record, Volleyball Wins 3-1 Over Chicago in NCAA Regional First Round

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The Gustavus volleyball team stayed hot in its first round of the NCAA Regional Tournament in a 3-1 victory. The Gusties won the first set 25-16, dropped a 25-21 second set, and finished strong with a 25-22 third set and a 25-17 fourth. In her 22 kill performance, Kate Holtan (Sr., Rochester) broke the program kills record with 1,695 previously held by Val Flom with 1,684 (1983-86).

Volleyball Wins MIAC Championship, Advances To NCAA Tourney

ST. PETER, Minn. – For the fifth time since 2015, the Gustavus volleyball team is bound for the national tournament after claiming the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Playoff Championship, defeating Bethel University in four sets with scores of 15-25, 27-25, 25-21, 25-18 advancing to NCAA Championships for the tenth time in program history. The Gusties have now won four MIAC Volleyball Playoff titles, tied with Concordia for the second-most in league history - two shy of the conference record.

Volleyball Sweeps St. Olaf in Three Sets, Advances to MIAC Title Match

SAINT PETER, Minn. - The Gustavus volleyball team swept their way to a MIAC Championship on Friday night with scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 25-18 over St. Olaf. With their fifth straight sweep, the Gusties improve to 25-5. Gustavus advances to the MIAC playoff title match for the fourth time in six years and will host number two seed, Bethel.

Holtan Named MIAC Player of the Year, Embacher Earns Defensive Player of the Year

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) came out with its annual volleyball awards Wednesday, and seniors Kate Holtan (Sr., Rochester) and Hailey Embacher (Sr., Mankato) were awarded the highest honors in the conference. Holtan was named the 2021 Volleyball Player of the Year while Embacher was named Defensive Player of the Year. The all-conference nod is Holtan's fourth and Embacher's second. Joining them in the all-conference lineup is junior Sarah Elliott (Jr., Lombard Ill.).

Volleyball Shuts Out Saint Mary’s, Claims MIAC Championship

WINONA, Minn. - The Gustavus volleyball team won over St. Mary's in straight sets with scores of 25-15, 25-16, and 25-21. With the victory Gustavus claims the MIAC regular season championship with the Royals following an overall record of 24-5 and a conference mark of 10-1. The Gusties have the head-to-head tiebreaker over Bethel as the No. 1 seed in the MIAC playoffs.

Volleyball Wins Over St. Scholastica in Straight Sets on Senior Night

SAINT PETER, Minn. - The Gustavus volleyball hosted their final home match of the season against St. Scholastica and took a straight-set win with scores of 25-17, 25-17, and 25-20. With the victory the Gusties improve to 23-5 overall and 9-1 in the MIAC. Notably, the Gusties went undefeated this season on their home court and won seven out of eight of those matches in three sets.

Volleyball Completes Weekend Conference Sweep

SAINT PETER, Minn. - The Gustavus volleyball team hosted the Saint Benedict Bennies for a Saturday night contest where the Gusties took a straight set win. With the victory, the team moves to 22-5 overall and 7-1 in the MIAC.
