MAPLE PLAIN, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s golf team placed second out of fourteen teams at the Minnesota Golf Classic carding an 885 after three rounds, Saint John’s won the tournament with a final score of 871. Competing alongside the top golfers in the country Jacob Pedersen (Sr., Minnetonka) finished in the top ten shooting 69-70-74-213, the lowest for any Division III player in the tournament.

“We found a way to score in the final round this afternoon to finish in second,” said Head Coach Scott Moe. “Overall we really struggled on the par fives, and on that course that is where you make up your ground. The greens were challenging and I think that is where we lost a number of shots. Jacob finished in tenth, proving to be the lowest finish for a Division III player. Sam had a great tournament, finishing 25th, and Carter also played well finishing 28th. We’re looking forward to getting our games in shape for the Division III Preview in Florida this next weekend. If we prepare properly, it should be pretty exciting.”

Sam Skaar (Sr., Coleraine) placed 25th after carding 68-80-71-219, Carter Czichotzki (Sr., Moorhead) tied in 28th with final marks of 72-76-73-221, Max Ullan (Sr., Blaine) tied in 39th shooting 77-73-74-224, Andrew Hoppe (Mankato, Jr.) carded 75-74-76-225, while newcomer Teddy Kaste (Fy., Apple Valley) shot 78-76-74-228.

Layke Moger (Jr., Rochester) ended the weekend 78-73-79-230, Wyatt Wasko (Jr., Lake Elmo) shot 81-80-71-232, Khrystjan Petersen (Jr., Faribault) carded 85-75-74-234, and Ben Forsberg (So., Shafer) rounded out the weekend finishing 77-77-82-236.
