MONTICELLO, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s golf team finished in fourth place out of 17 teams after final rounds of the St. John’s spring invite with a total score of 602 (+39).
“Our pre-round goal today was to shoot 15 strokes less than yesterday and we beat that by one,” said Coach Randall Stuckey “Really happy for the turnaround in play today. Our approach shots into greens were better but we still need to improve that part of the game. We were better at finding a way to score today when we didn’t hit greens. Always good to see improvement and will need to continue that in preparation of our conference tournament next weekend.”
Individually, Jacob Pedersen (Jr., Minnetonka) shot 142 (+1) placing second overall. Tommy Hiniker (Fy., Edina) concluded the weekend shooting 150 placing 16th overall followed by Wyatt Wasko (So., Lake Elmo) shooting 151 (+2) to tie in 20th. Andrew Hoppe (So., Mankato) and Sam Skaar (Jr., Bovey) rounded the scores out with marks of 161 tying in 56th.
The team next competes in the MIAC Championship tournament on Friday.
