WAVERLY, Iowa. – The Gustavus women’s golf team won out of eight teams in the Wartburg Spring Invite with a total score of 641 (+81).

Individually, Emily Kratz (Jr., Edina) finished tied in third shooting a 82-77-159 (+19) alongside Laurel Ward (So., Bozeman, Mont.) with a  79-80-159 (+19). Sydney Regaldo (Jr., Rosemount) placed fifth with final marks of 79-82-161 (+21). Erin Ericson (Jr., Onalaska, Wis.) rounded out the scores posting an 88-78-166 (+26) ranking tenth.

“Very thrilled for our women winning a very close tournament to a very good team,” said Coach Randall Stuckey “Yesterdays round helped us with our decisions today but many times we didn’t execute as we wanted to. The girls really battled the whole round including three pars on a very tough par four on our last pole. We always emphasize finishing our shots, every hole, and the entire round and today they finished. As we get more time outside to compete we are looking for some steady improvement with all aspects of our game.”

The team next competes at Carleton on Saturday.
