Last Time Out
The Gustavus gymnastics team opened its season with a WIAC dual win last Thursday in Saint Peter by a score of 178.625-178.000. The Gusties placed first in both the vault and bars.
“What I told them before the meet was to go out there with passion and give it their all,” said Head Coach Aryn DeGrood. “We had some falls but the team did exactly what was asked of them. That’s a higher score than we expected to have for our first meet and with a few falls there’s room for improvement.”
Gustavus scored 45.075 on vault, 44.425 on floor, 44.200 on bars, and 44.925 on beam.
Emma Esteb (Fy., Woodbury) had the highest score on the vault, posting a score of 9.300. Esteb also took second on the beam and third on the floor, with scores of 9.450 and 9.350, respectively.
Annie Corbett (Fy., Brookfield, Wis.) won the bars at 9.250 and placed third on the beam at 9.375. She finished with the top score in the all-around at 36.050. Leah Heilig (Sr., Forest Lake) also had a solid all-around day, finishing second on the bars with a 9.150 and also taking second in the floor exercise with a 9.450.
