Men’s Hoops Strong in Overtime, Beats Hamline 88-81

After finishing its last game with a whimper, the Gustavus men’s basketball team ended Wednesday night’s game with a bang, defeating Hamline 88-81 in overtime. The Gusties, now 2-3 overall, overcame six lead changes and seven ties to remain unbeaten in the MIAC at 2-0, while the Pipers drop to 1-4 overall and 0-3 in the league.

Women’s Basketball Tops Hamline 76-57

Ava Gonsorowski (Jr., Esko) posted a career-high 23 points, all in the first three quarters, as the Gustavus women's basketball team defeated Hamline 76-57. With the win the Gusties improve to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the MIAC while the Pipers fall to 4-2 overall and 1-2 in the MIAC.

Men’s Basketball Hosts Hamline Wednesday Night

The Gustavus men’s basketball team returns to conference action Wednesday night, playing host to Hamline at 7 p.m. The Gusties enter the contest 1-3 overall and 1-0 in the MIAC, while the Pipers are 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the league.

Women’s Basketball Travels to Hamline Wednesday

The Gustavus women's basketball team will travel to St. Paul Wednesday to take on Hamline in a 7 p.m. contest. The Gusties enter the contest 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the MIAC while the Pipers are 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Four Gusties Named United Soccer Coaches All-North Region

United Soccer Coaches released its All-Region Teams on Monday and four Gustavus men’s soccer players were named to the All-North Region Teams. Midfielder Matt Gibbons (Jr., Minneapolis), goalkeeper Wesley Sanders (Fy., Urbandale, Iowa), and forward Cole Schwartz (So., Jakarta, Indonesia) on are on the first team, while Raphael Cattelin (Fy., Edina, Minn.) received Third Team honors.

Men’s Basketball Falters Late, Loses in Overtime at Central

The Gustavus men’s basketball team took Central (Iowa) to overtime on Saturday night, but wound up losing 89-79 to fall to 1-3 overall. The Dutch, who outscored the Gusties 12-2 in the overtime period, improve to 2-4.

Women’s Basketball Falls to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps

The Gustavus women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season Saturday, falling to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 41-37. With the loss the Gusties fall to 4-1 while the Athenas move to 5-0.

Women’s Basketball Downs Pomona-Pitzer 73-65

The Gustavus women's basketball team competed in its first of two games in California Friday, defeating Pomona-Pizter 73-65. With the win the Gusties move to 4-0 while the Sagehens fall to 1-4. 

Men’s Basketball Faces Central on Saturday

The Gustavus men’s basketball team is on the road Saturday taking on Central (Iowa) for a 5 p.m. non-conference game. The Gusties enter the contest 1-2 overall while the Dutch are 1-4.

Women’s Basketball Travels to California for Pair of Contests

SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s basketball team will head to California this weekend for a pair of contests in Claremont. The Gusties (3-0) will take on Pomona-Pitzer (1-3) on Friday at 6:30 before taking on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (3-0) at 6:30 on Saturday.
