Panning Selected to CoSIDA Academic All-America Team

Gustavus senior wide receiver Brice Panning (Hamburg) on Wednesday was named Second Team Academic All-America, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Becker Earns MIAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week

Andrew Becker (Fy., Northfield) competed in nine events to help the Gustavus men's swim & dive team win the two-day Grinnell Pioneer Classic over the weekend. For his performances, Becker has been named MIAC Men's Swimmer of the Week.

Orzolek, Rooney, and Winter Named MIAC Athletes of the Week

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Men’s and Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday and Gustavus earned three honors. Taylor Rooney (Jr., Andover) and Tierney Winter (Sr., Waterville) were named Men's and Women's Track Athletes of the Week, while Steven Orzolek (So., Darwin) was named Men's Field Athlete of the Week.

Finch, Panning Selected to D3football.com All-West Region Team

D3football.com released its 2019 All-West Region Teams on Tuesday and two Gustavus student-athletes received recognition. For the second consecutive season, tight end Brayton Finch (Sr., Mount Morris, Ill.) earned First Team honors, while wide receiver Brice Panning (Sr., Hamburg) was honored on the Second Team.

Caitlin Rorman Named MIAC Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week

Caitlin Rorman (Fy., Blue Earth) averaged 16.5 points per contest last week in a pair of Gustie wins and helped lead Gustavus to its first victory over St. Thomas since 2010 and was named MIAC Athlete of the Week for her efforts.

Men’s Hockey Falls 5-4 in Overtime to Saint Mary’s

The Gustavus men's hockey team rallied back from a three goal deficit, but fell in overtime 5-4 to Saint Mary's Saturday. With the loss the Gusties fall to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in the MIAC, while the Cardinals move to 3-5-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference. 

Men’s Swim & Dive Wins Third-Straight Pioneer Classic, Women Second

The Gustavus men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams Saturday concluded competition at the Grinnell College Pioneer Classic. The men won the meet with 1630 points and the women took second at 1357.5, just 2.5 points behind Carleton.

Eight Gusties Compete at Chuck Petersen Open

A small group of the Gustavus men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams kicked off the indoor season Saturday at the Chuck Peterson Open & Multi, hosted by Minnesota State-Mankato. Three athletes on the men’s team and five from the women’s squad competed on Saturday with six Gusties setting lifetime bests, four winning their event, and two breaking school records.

Women’s Basketball Upsets No. 6 St. Thomas 62-57

The Gustavus women's basketball team snapped St. Thomas's 77-game MIAC win streak on Saturday, taking down the No. 6 ranked Tommies 62-57. With the victory the Gusties move to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the MIAC, while the Tommies fall to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

Women’s Hockey Rebounds with 5-1 Win Over Saint Mary’s

A quick start led to No. 4 Gustavus women’s hockey defeating Saint Mary’s 5-1 Saturday afternoon at Don Roberts Ice Rink. The Gusties improve to 8-0-1 overall and 5-0-1 in the MIAC, while the Cardinals drop to 2-6-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the league.
