LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its Division III Regional Awards on Thursday and Kate Holtan (Jr., Rochester) was named to the All-Central Region Team for the third consecutive season. Of the 14-member team, Holtan is the only member with more than two appearances.

Kate Holtan

Holtan was the teams top attacker this year and led the conference during the regular season with 3.79 kills per set and 402 total kills, which are the fifth most in school history. She was also steady on the back line, ranking 20th in the MIAC with 2.99 digs per set, while her 40 service aces were the fifth most in the conference. Holtan became just the eighth Gustie ever to post 25-plus kills in a match when she had 25 on Oct. 5 in the team’s 3-1 win over Hamline and she posted 14 double-doubles with kills and digs this season, the sixth most in school history.

In her three years, Holtan has climbed the all-time ranks at Gustavus. She currently has the eighth most kills in school history with 1,177 and has averaged 3.50 kills per set, which is the highest mark of any Gustie volleyball player who has ever eclipsed 500 kills. With 923 career digs, the Rochester native will look to join elite company with Katie Olstad during her senior season, as Olstad is currently the only player in program history with 1,000 career kills and digs.
