BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference released its women’s soccer postseason awards Wednesday and Gustavus keeper Ashley Becker (Sr., Farmington) has been selected as an All-Conference member.
Becker becomes just the third Gustavus women’s soccer player to earn All-Conference all four seasons, joining Hall of Famers Wendy Ericksen Bachman ‘87 and Renee Beaudry Scanlon ’03.
Becker finished her senior season having started all 18 games in goal with a 1.43 goals against average and a .818 save percentage. Becker made 112 saves to lead the MIAC. Throughout her career, Becker made a case to be considered the best goalie in program history. She amassed 397 career saves, breaking the previous record of 308. Becker recorded 32 shutouts and played over 7,116 minutes between the posts, allowing 81 goals after starting all 78 games of her career for a goals against average of 1.02.
Katie Ashpole (Jr., Chaska), Lauren Johnson (Jr., Woodbury), and Megan King (Fy., Savage) were named All-Conference honorable mention. Ashpole led the team in scoring with five goals and 12 points. Ashpole, who started all 18 games this year, also took a team-high 43 shots and had two game-winning goals. Johnson also started all 18 games and scored one goal and two assists for four points. King made 12 starts and appeared in 16 games as a standout defender.
As part of a Conference-wide sportsmanship initiative, the MIAC also announced the 14th annual All-MIAC Sportsmanship team for women’s soccer. Gustavus’s representative is Maggie Leininger (Sr., Plymouth).
