Patrick Whaling Awarded ITA Division III Most Improved Senior

Men’s Tennis player Patrick Whaling (Sr., Manakin Sabot, Va.) received national recognition at a banquet held at the National Championships on Thursday evening as the Most Improved Male Senior tennis player in Division III.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Men’s Tennis player Patrick Whaling (Sr., Manakin Sabot, Va.) received national recognition at a banquet held at the National Championships on Thursday evening as the Most Improved Male Senior tennis player in Division III.

Whaling has improved from 12 singles victories at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions as a first-year to a 15-8 record at No. 1 singles as a senior. He has vaulted to a No. 5 regional ranking after beginning the fall ranked No. 23. His senior campaign was highlighted by a semi-finalist appearance at the ITA Fall Regional Championships. Whaling has also recorded a 28-4 doubles mark while competing at No. 1. He teamed with partner Chase Johnson to win the ITA Regional doubles title and placed third at the ITA Cup. He is part of his region’s No. 1 doubles team.
