NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The No. 20 Gustavus women’s golf team competed at the Carleton Invitational to conclude its 2019 campaign and claimed a fifth place finish. The Gusties shot a 355 as a team while the winners, Carleton, shot 308.

“It was a tough day on the golf course for the ladies,” said Head Coach Scott Moe. “As it has been all year our effort was there, but our games were a little bit off. The windy conditions made our misses turn into trouble. Want to give a special shoutout to our three amazing graduates. Morgan [Bleyhl] (Jr., Elk River, Minn.), Kennedy [Sommerfeld] (Sr., Litchfield, Minn.), and Ellie [Brandt] (Sr., Wayzata, Minn.) have put in countless hours and effort into our program. They will certainly be missed and were such great examples for our young players in learning how to be outstanding student athletes and representatives of our college. They certainly have left their mark with Gustavus golf.”

Bleyhl, Sommerfeld, and Brandt following the round.

Sydney Regalado (Fy., Rosemount, Minn.) shot an 86 to lead the Gusties while Emily Kratz (Fy., Edina, Minn.) was just behind her at 88. Erin Ericson (Fy., Onalaska, Wis.), Brandt, and Bleyhl shot 90, 91, 94 to round out the Gustavus top five. Sommerfeld, who golfed as an individual, shot an 86.
