Women’s Golf Set to Begin Spring Season Sunday Posted on March 29th, 2019 by

SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s golf team will be in action for the first time this spring on Sunday as it travels to Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. to take on Grinnell in a dual match.

The Gusties are coming off a fall season in which they placed third at the MIAC Championships and featured three first-years in their top five. Gustavus saw themselves with five of their six golfers averaging in the 80’s during the fall season with Emily Kratz (Fy., Edina, Minn.) averaging a team-low 79.9. Kratz, Morgan Bleyhl (Jr., Elk River, Minn.) and Ellie Brandt (Sr., Wayzata, Minn.) all had a top 10 finish in the fall with Kratz holding an 18 hole individual low score of 71.

Consistency was a huge key for Gustavus in their fall season as they competed in five events and finished in the top half of every event. As a team the Gusties posted a team low 18 hole score of 311 on Sept. 8, 2018 when they competed in the Wartburg Fall Invite. Gustavus’ best finish of the year came in their first event when they kicked off their season in the CSB Invite finishing at 633 over two rounds which took second place out of 13 teams. All six Gustie golfers in the event finished in the top 26 of the 78 player field.

Tee time for Sunday is set for 8:30 a.m ET.
