Track & Field Qualifies Two for NCAA Indoor Championships, Six Earn All-Region Honors

SAINT PETER, Minn. – The 2019 NCAA Division III Men’s Indoor Track and Field participants were announced on Sunday and Gustavus will be represented by Taylor Rooney (So., Andover, Minn.) and Michael Hensch (Sr., North Branch, Minn.). Rooney will compete in the 60-meter hurdles with a seed time of 8.14 (10th), while Hensch will compete in the shot put with a seed distance of 16.39 meters (15th) and the weight throw with a distance of 18.47 meters (16th). 

For each men’s individual event contested the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition.

The championships will be held March 8-9 at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston, Massachusetts, with the University of Massachusetts, Boston serving as host.

On Monday the USTFCCCA released its All-Region awards. Hensch earned All-Region in the shot and weight, while Rooney earned honors in the 60 hurdles and high jump. On the women’s team, the distance medley relay team of Josie Blake (So.,Waukegan, Ill.), Abigail Schnabel (Sr., Hamburg, Minn.), Tierney Winter (Jr., Waterville, Minn.), and Sara Moen (So.,) earned All-Region. Winter also garnered region honors in the mile.
