SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s hockey team will host Concordia for a pair of games this weekend. The Gusties (11-5-5, 7-3-4 MIAC) will take on the Cobbers (9-9-3, 6-5-3 MIAC) at 7 p.m. Friday and then 2 p.m. Saturday with both contests at Don Roberts Ice Rink.
The Series
Friday’s contest will mark the 44th meeting between the two teams with the Gusties currently holding a 38-2-3 advantage. The two teams last met on Feb. 11, 2018 with the Gusties securing a 4-1 victory.
Scouting the Gusties
Gustavus enters the contest most recently tying St. Catherine 2-2 on Saturday. The tie marked the fourth straight Saturday that the Gusties have played to a 65-minute draw. In their past five contests the Gusties have outscored their opponents 13-5 while amassing a record of 2-0-3. The Gusties are been led in both goals and assists by Allie Stanger (8g, 9a) for 17 points. Lilia Scheid, Amelia Vosen, and Kristina Press are also in double digit points with 13, 12, and 12 respectively. Amanda DiNella has started 20 games in net for Gustavus making 420 saves while allowing 31 goals for a save percentage of .931.
Scouting the Cobbers
Concordia comes into the weekend series most recently following a 2-1 loss to Hamline Saturday. The Cobbers are currently in their toughest stretch of games of the season as they come off series’ with No. 1 St. Thomas and No. 5 Hamline. They now have to take on the remaining two teams above them in the MIAC standings in Gustavus and Augsburg to close out the year. Concordia is led on the attack by Amanda Flemming who has 14 points, while Megan Dondelinger, Callie Fagerstrom, and Megan Mohr all have 12. The Cobbers have had four different players start in net this season with Brittany Boss starting eight games, making 217 saves, and allowing 27 goals for save percentage of .889.
