SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s hockey team plays its final game before Christmas break on Friday night against No. 15 St. Scholastica. Puck drop between the 4-5-1 Gusties and 6-1-1 Saints is set for 7:05 p.m. at Don Roberts Ice Rink.

GUSTAVUS GAME NOTES

TEDDY BEAR TOSS

Tonight’s game is the third annual Teddy Bear Toss game at Gustavus. Fans who bring a new stuffed animal will be admitted free into the game. After the first Gustavus goal, fans are asked to throw their stuffed animals on to the ice, which will be collected and donated to Minnesota Wild forward Jason Zucker’s #GIVE16 Campaign, which benefits the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital. In a short seven months, the Zucker’s #GIVE16 campaign brought together the state of Minnesota to raise over $900,000. In order to have continuous programming and special events for patients and families, this season, the Zucker’s are encouraging people to continue to give back and support programming of the space.

SCOUTING THE GUSTIES

Gustavus most recently split a MIAC series with Bethel last weekend, losing 5-4 on Friday and winning 3-1 on Saturday. The Gusties average 2.6 goals and allow 2.5 goals per game. They are strong on the penalty kill, with just four power play goals allowed in 39 opportunities (.103 percent). Caleb Anderson leads the offense with nine points on four goals and five assists. Evan Erickson has eight points on three goals and five assists. Chris Amsden has started seven games in net with a 2.53 goals against average and a .898 save percentage.

SCOUTING THE SAINTS

St. Scholastica enters the single game matchup as a top-15 team in the nation according to the latest USCHO.com poll. The Saints last weekend upset No. 4 Adrian 5-3 on Friday, followed by a 3-2 win over Trine on Saturday. CSS averages 3.2 goals and allows 2.0 goals per game. The Saints are efficient on the power play, converting .244 percent on the man advantage. Carson Rose leads the offense with eight points on six goals and two assists. Cole Golka and Jordan Fralich each have seven points. Nick Trenciansky has played seven games in goal with a 1.70 goals against average and a .946 save percentage.
