SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s hockey team is set to travel to UW-Superior for a faceoff on Friday and UW-Stout on Saturday. Puck-drop is 7 p.m. both Friday and Saturday. The Gusties and UW-Superior both own a 1-2-1 record, while Stout stands at 2-2. Gustavus tied (3-3) and lost (1-2) to St. Olaf in its most recent contests.

THE SERIES

Tonight’s game marks the 16th meeting between Gustavus and UW-Superior in men’s hockey. UW-Superior leads the all-time series 11-3-1. Last season the Gusties came out on top with a 3-1 win. Saturday’s contest marks the 26th meeting between Gustavus and UW-Stout. The Gusties lead the all-time series 13-9-3. Last season the Blue Devils won 5-3.

SCOUTING THE GUSTIES

After four games this season the Gusties average 1.8 goals and allow 2.2 per game. They’ve scored seven goals on 170 shots (.041), while allowing nine goals on 90 shots (.100). Gustavus is 3-for-15 on the power play (.200) and has killed off 10 of the eleven power play opportunities by its opponents. Caleb Anderson leads the Gusties with two goals so far this season. Anderson also leads the team with three assists, followed by Evan Erickson with two. Chris Amsden leads the Gustie goalies in minutes with 188:19. He has made 61 saves, owns a .910 save percentage and has a 1-1-1 record. Robbie Goor has played one game for the Gusties, making 20 saves and owning a .870 save percentage.

SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS AND BLUE DEVILS

After four games the Yellow Jackets average 2.5 goals and allow 3.5 per game. They’ve scored four goals on 21 shots (.067) while allowing 14 goals on 101 shots (.139). UW-Superior has capitalized on four of its 21 power play opportunities (.190), but has killed off 13 of the 16 chances by its opponents. Troy York leads the Yellow Jackets with four goals, followed by Chad Lopez with two. Arthur Terchiyez has registered four assists, Troy MacTavish has tallied three, followed by four players with two assists each. A.J. Smith and Cole Skinner has split time between the pipes. Smith owns a 0-1-1 record and a .893 save percentage. Skinner owns a 1-1 record and .822 save percentage.

With four games on the season, the Blue Devils average 3.0 goals and allow 2.8 per game. They have scored 12 goals on 125 shots (.096), while allowing 11 goals on 86 shots (.128), so far this season. The Blue Devils have two power play goals on 15 opportunities (.133), and have killed off 18 of their 20 penalties (.900). Arturas Laukaitis leads UW-Stout with three goals, followed by Mathias Ahman and Gavin Smith with two goals each. Conner Valesano leads the team with three assists. Tommi Ahlgren leads the Blue Devils in minutes played with 115:44, owning a .842 save percentage and a 1-1 record. Brady Meyers has totaled 97:51 minutes between the pipes, with a .967 save percentage and a 1-0 record.
