DECORAH, Iowa – Both the Gustavus men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams took to Iowa to compete in a split squad meet on Saturday. The Gusties won the Luther meet by a score of 168-54. The Gusties also competed at Morningside and the results for that meet will be coming out tomorrow.
The Gusties won all 11 events on the women’s side against Luther. Here are the winners:

- Three meter diving (197.90) – Emily An (So., Owatonna, Minn.)
- 100 yard butterfly (1:02.07) – Michelle Simms (Sr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.)
- 100 yard freestyle (54.65) – Webster
- 100 yard backstroke (1:06.16) – Ruth Chuah (So., Penang, Malaysia)

On the men’s side the Gusties also swept all 11 events against Luther with the winners being:

The Gusties also won the two relay events on both sides:

“It was a great ‘first meet’ day,” said coach Jon Carlson. “Lots of good swims and things to improve going forward. The team is fired up to get back in the water this week to prepare for MSU-Mankato and UW-Stevens Point.”
