BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Gustavus volleyball student-athletes Kate Holtan (So., Rochester, Minn.) and Nora Holtan (Sr., Rochester, Minn.) played exceptionally well in a pair of conference victories and for their efforts Kate has been named MIAC Hitter of the Week and Nora has earned MIAC Setter of the Week.

Kate Holtan led the Gustie offense in a pair of conference victories last week, posting 18 kills and a .326 hitting percentage in a four-set victory over Concordia before being set up 39 times with 17 kills and a .410 hitting percentage as Gustavus topped previously unbeaten Saint Benedict on Saturday. Holtan also recorded double-doubles in both matches with a career-high 25 digs against Concordia with 13 more coming against the Bennies.

Nora Holtan broke a 22-year old Gustavus record on Friday night, as her season-high 53 assists enabled the senior to surpass Jess Lobben’s (1993-96) career assists mark of 4,201. Holtan then tallied 47 assists and 14 digs in a four-set win over Saint Ben’s on Saturday in a matchup of previously undefeated MIAC teams. She now has 14 career 50-plus assist matches.
