LA CROSSE, Wis. – Gustavus throwing specialist Michael Hensch (Jr., North Branch, Minn.) concluded the outdoor season Saturday at the NCAA Championships, hosted by UW-La Crosse. Hensch placed 15th in the hammer throw with a toss of 178-2.25.
Hensch progressed on each of his throws in the prelims, marking 175-7.5 on his first attempt, 176-6.25 on the second, and 178-2.25 on his third.
“Mike looked great in the ring today but he was releasing low, which didn’t give him the best flight trajectory,” Head Coach Dale Bahr said. “Even though he didn’t make the finals I couldn’t be more proud of what he’s accomplished. He’s a top-notch kid that does everything right. Mike’s work-ethic and determination to improve are qualities that will bode well for next season.”
